Gated Blog Tour

GATED
By: AMY Christine Parker
Blog Tour

Do the gates keep the unchosen out or the chosen in?

In Mandrodage Meadows, life seems perfect. The members of this isolated suburban community have thrived under Pioneer, the charismatic leader who saved them from their sad, damaged lives. Lyla Hamilton and her parents are original members of the flock. They moved here following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, looking to escape the evil in the world. Now seventeen, Lyla knows certain facts are not to be questioned:

Pioneer is her leader.

Will is her Intended.

The end of the world is near.

Like Noah before him, Pioneer has been told of the imminent destruction of humanity. He says his chosen must arm themselves to fight off the unchosen people, who will surely seek refuge in the compound's underground fortress--the Silo.

Lyla loves her family and friends, but given the choice, she prefers painting to target practice. And lately she'd rather think about a certain boy outside the compound than plan for married life in the Silo with Will. But with the end of days drawing near, she will have to pick up a gun, take a side, and let everyone know where she stands.

My Review

THIS IS ONE INTENSE READ!

Lyla lives in a gated community where no outsiders are allowed.  She has grown up in this environment after 9/11.  Pioneer, their leader, guides them and teaches them how to protect themselves for when the Apocalypse comes.

However, after Lyla meets a boy from the outside, she is unsure whether to trust Pioneer's intentions.

This is an incredible read about a cult from the inside looking out.  It has a great impact about how people can be easily influenced when they are in a desperate situation. It's powerful..plain and simple.  Lyla's courage to defy everything that she has been taught, is extreme...and beautifully written in this story.  Gated IS an original...there is no other like it.  As with all teenagers, Lyla has a great group of friends that show humor and support.  However, as the threat of the world coming to an end nears, things heat up as the community prepares for its survival.  And Lyla stands alone at questioning the leader.  It has that intense action when you least expect it.

You want this book...don't just put it on your TBR list...get it.

Excerpt:

“Fast I can do. It’s soft and slow I’m goin’ to have a problem with.”
“What’s the difference?”
“Different meanin’ for different people, mine’s personal.” He placed his palms against the wall by her ears.
“I don’t understand.”
He leaned his forehead against hers. “Fuck… you’re killin’ me, darlin’.” His fingers skimmed across her cheekbone and disappeared into her hair. “Do you remember what I said about kissin’?” His hazel eyes trapped hers.
“It can be dangerous?”
“Yes. And slow… slow is very dangerous.” He leaned forward, brushed his lips across hers, and all the air left her lungs. Something strange started in the depths of her stomach, and her skin flushed. Her nipples tightened, growing to the point of pain as they rubbed against the cotton fabric of her bra.
His eyes flicked toward them, a deep grunt sounded from his chest, and his hand tightened in her hair. He held her with a firm grip and leaned his forehead back against hers. “Reach down, and undo my jeans.”
She was trapped. Even if she wanted to retreat, there was nowhere for her to go. He’d invaded her space. Intense eyes stared right into hers as if he was demanding her deepest secrets with one hand buried inside her hair and the other curled around her neck. A rock hard, well-defined stomach pressed against her belly. The skin-on-skin contact ignited a slow burn that was sure to grow into a wildfire any minute. If she weren’t leaning against the wall, she’d collapse.

Wrath Blog Tour and Review

Wrath (Soul Savers 5) by Kristie Cook
Release Tour / Book Blast
Genre: Paranormal Romance / New Adult

Release Date: 8/16/2013

New Adult Paranormal Romance by bestselling author Kristie Cook**Mature Content**Recommended for ages 16+ due to sexual situations and language.

Will a mother’s wrath make her cross the line?

didn't want to cry. For once in my life, tears evaded me. Perhaps because I refused to grieve this loss, because it wasn't a loss in my eyes, in my heart. It was a call for war, yes. But not a loss. I wouldn't allow it.

Besides, I was too mad to cry, even in my exhaustion, and anger would get me much further.

As I curled my body around Sasha’s, though, I realized the anger within me had changed. I no longer felt irrational and blinding fury that dulled all other emotions. But that was okay. I really didn't want to be Psycho Alexis. This, what I now felt in every cell of my body down to the core, was better. My anger had condensed and solidified into a cold, hard stone settling within me. Something I could control and hold onto for the long term to keep me going and focused on the goal.

Wrath.

That’s what I felt. And there was nothing worse than the wrath of a pissed-off mother.

Wrath, the fifth volume in the bestselling, award-winning Soul Savers Series, will have you on the edge-of-your-seat-ravenously-devouring-junk-food as you experience the mysteries, magic, betrayals, and passion that you've come to expect from Kristie Cook’s writing.

Review

First, The Soul Savior series has been one of my favorites.  This series just gets better and better with each book.

Wrath, a mother's desperation to get her son back, deal with betrayal, and to do the right thing by the Amadis people. It can be too much for one person to deal with.  However, Alexis learns to deal with Tristan at her side.  Together, they have found a way to make everyone happy.

This story speeds up the tempo of the whole series with the incredible action.  Alexis must learn to trust those who she is unsure about, having had the biggest betrayal by Owen.  Those trust issues are upfront in every way. As the search continues for Dorian, they must stay true to the Amadis rules.  Alexis' wrath is hard to contain.

So much happens in this story, I can't even contemplate.  There's betrayal, alliances, heart ache, action, intense heat....the words just blurred right off the pages into my imagination to visually absorb the creative descriptive writing.

It's a WOW....and if you are a lover of the series, it will blow your mind.  If you haven't started the series yet, what are you waiting for...this is the perfect time with 5 books completed, so the story will last longer for you!  It's one that will stay in the front of your mind for a long time.

BLURB

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again.
But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

REVIEW

The Runes series packs a punch for sure.

Raine has a lot of work to do to help Torin remember her.  However, he doesn't believe her.  She is frustrated, but giving up on Torin is not an option.  She's just going to have to get him to fall in love with her again.

Immortals is packed with adrenaline and action.  So many stories are going on at the same time where they clash at the end with an unexpected climax.  Forgotten love, training, bizarre episodes, new love, evil, sadness..wow, I could go on with all the excitement this story holds deep in the creative words written by the amazing Ednah.

Sometimes the second installment isn't as exciting as the first, however Immortals takes the Runes series to a whole new level. I love how Raine starts to take more control of her destiny.  Eirik gets more of a story than just being a side kick to Raine.  I fell in love with his character in Runes.  The Reapers seem to come together, still with bickering, but would they be any fun without that?  Torin...oh Torin...I didn't think he could get any hotter.  The twists and creative ending will floor you with the amazing imagination. I adore the Norse Mythology, something I have not been familiar with but this story drives me to learn more.

Did I say how hot Torin is?  Oh yeah, maybe I did...you tend to lose all thought when it comes to that sexy beast.

The Runes series is one of my favorites this year. It has all the ingredients a story needs to stay on your mind for a LONG time after you are finished.  And the frustration I felt when it ended, because come on, I didn't want it to end, tells you that its an insanely incredible read!

Something Great Tour, Interview and Giveaway

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her.
Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jeanella didn’t need in her life. Only Max didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making her even more determined to push him away. All she wanted was security, a career, and love that was everlasting.
Fresh out of college, life was simple and plain for Jeanella Mefferd, but she liked it that way. Every part of her life was smooth sailing; her friends, her job, and even the guy she’d started dating. Then one night, while at dinner with her best friend, she spotted someone who made her feel things she’d never felt before just by his mere presence—dangerous, heart pounding, breathless heat. Thinking she would never see him again, she brushed it off, but when she started to run into him unexpectedly, all she could think of was how he made her feel with his sweet flirtations. Everything about Maxwell Knight screamed trouble, especially when she found out he was her new boss’s son. Now, heading to a New York fashion show she’d dreamt about since she was a child, would she be able to focus on her career instead of Max, who had been scheduled to attend with her? As much as she tried to forget their encounters, his good looks, charm, smooth words, and determination to win her over gravitated her toward him. The next thing she knew, he was utterly consuming her, mind and body, and in places she’d never thought possible. Would she be willing to step over the boundary and risk her safety net?  Was she willing to take advice from her best friend and love hard and risk getting hurt, rather than not really love at all and possibly miss out on finding something great?

My Review

Something Great is a fast paced new adult novel that is full of hotness and anticipation that teaches you to never settle, but to hold out for something great!

Jenna’s life is simple and safe.  She has her best friends, steady job, a new relationship that is safe and progressing slowly.  It’s not in her nature to be spontaneous and reckless.  However, life for Jenna is about to change when she interviews for the job of her dreams and runs into a gorgeous guy who is very flirtacious with her.
Jenna likes her slow moving safe relationship she has going on at the moment. It’s so safe that she doesn’t actually know if they are “boyfriend-girlfriend” yet.  However, the  mystery guy that she keeps running into, but yet has not  been able to get a name, leaves her daydreaming about a not so safe romance.  Jenna’s best friends try to encourage her to persue this mystery man, but will she ever run into him again?

Something Great is a coming new adult novel that heats you up from your head to your toes.  As I was reading, I literally wanted to be in Jenna’s shoes. The incredible storyline increases rapidly, as Jenna goes out of her comfort zone after she learns that she deserves more out of life than just hanging back.  Jenna’s best friends, a group from college, are incredible funny and totally honest. Max is mysterious and sexy, hindering you from putting the story down because you desperately thrive to learn more about him.  As you learn more about Jenna and Max, you discover how much you crave for their romance to blossom.  There are obstacles along the way, (this is a new adult book and not a fairy tale you know!), so don’t think it’s going to be smooth sailing.  Twists and turns are a definite attention grabber, and you learn that something great may turn into something wonderful.

It’s a must read in a new genre that is fast growing with popularity

Interview with Mary

1.  How did you come up with the story line for Something Great, and how did you plot it out?  It started as a dare from my friends. I told them there was no way I could write the sex parts…but apparently I could…lol!  Blush!!! I sort of had an idea: their jobs, where they lived, friends, family, but I had no plot. I just started from chapter one and let it go from there. When I told my friends, they were really excited.

2.  How did you create the main characters personalities?  The main characters’ personalities are based on my husband and me…but of course I’ve added a lot more spice to readers’ appeal. It was easier for the characters to come alive that way for me.

3. What is the time frame from the moment you created the story, till the time it was ready to be published?  To tell you the truth, I think I finished the first rough draft in one month. Yup…one month. I had so much fun writing it that I just couldn’t stop writing. I was holding onto it because I was shy about it. After my friend read it and told me how much she loved it and wanted someone like Max, then I knew I had something to publish. I debated whether to try to find an agent or to self-publish. After speaking to several successful authors, I decided to self-publish. Then the hard part began…covers, editing, promoting, etc.

4.  How many books are you planning on writing for this series? For sure there will be 2 because I’ve already begun to start Something Wonderful, but I hope to do 3 in the series.

5.  Was is an easy transition to write NA, from writing middle grade and Young Adult? Writing NA was so much easier because I didn’t have to think about all that supernatural stuff I have in my young adult novel, Crossroads Saga. There are many questions that must be answered in stories like that, but with new adult novels…you’re writing about life in general.

This or That Questons

Day or Night: Day… I’m afraid of the dark, but I LOVE writing during the night when it’s peace and quiet.

book or ereader: Book but I LOVE my ereader to take with me when I travel.

read or write: Write, but I LOVE to read too.

sweet or salty: Sweet for sure. I LOVE Godiva chocolate.

stay home or vacation: Vacation. I want to see the world.

About the Author:

Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children’s chapter book, No Bullies Allowed.

Title: Murder and Mayhem in Goose Pimple Junction

Author: Amy Metz Publish Date: Published August 5th 2012 by Iconic Publishing, LLC

Synopsis:
When Tess Tremaine starts a new life in the colorful town of Goose Pimple Junction, she thinks she's moved to a quiet little burg. Curiosity leads her to look into a seventy-five-year-old murder, and suddenly she's learning the foreign language of southern speak, resisting her attraction to local celebrity Jackson Wright, and dealing with more mayhem than she can handle.
Humor and mystery…who knew the combination would orchestrate an amazing read!

This story is about Tess, a middle aged woman with a grown son, and recently divorced. She is starting a new life in the small southern town of Goose Pimple Junction. She is a romance author, who lands a job in a local book store. She buys a house that has some ties to an old cold case murder, and finds a key. She meets local hottie, Jackson, who is also an author. Tess can’t deny her attraction to him, and eventually confides in him when strange things starts to happen at her house. Together, they decide to try and solve the case.

This story was such a fun read. It had so much southern humor, with the slang, you just can’t help falling in love with it. Before each chapter begins, there is a southern word, how to pronounce it, and its meaning. It was completely brilliant. The cold case murder is actually based on a true story. The mystery was exciting how the clues eventually started to piece together. It is a fun and fast paced read, and I would highly recommend it. It contains some creative characters that you completely fall in love with…Pickle…you just have to check him out and the crazy shirts that he wears! You just can’t help chuckle while reading this story, even with the seriousness of the mystery!

Lucas Ryan Versus the Hive Review

Title: Lucas Ryan Versus the Hive

 Author: Madison Daniel

Publish Date: Published 2013

Synopsis:
The life and times of the worlds newest hero, Lucas Ryan! Madison Daniel unleashes a sci-fi adventure for the next generation. Music, monsters, other worlds...Lucas Ryan will save us all. You will believe. Newest series from YA author, Madison Daniel. Video games. Detention. Crushes. The end of the world. Your basic tale of the unlikeliest hero. Lucas Ryan SAVES!

Lucas Ryan…Teenage boy, electronic junky, and girl crusher…as in, crushing on a girl that he has never had the guts to talk to. He’s a regular fixture in the principle office. So, one day while he was in there, getting the lecture, he spies an object on the floor. Little did he know, that after picking it up, his life would become an adventure.

 Pick me up.

This story starts with a bang and ends with a bang. There’s no beating around the bush for the action to start in this story. It possesses all the right ingredients for a high paced action adventure sci-fi story that will surrender your whole attention. It contains great imagination, a great group of friends for moral support, and the evil to cause the chaos.

 Pick me up.

The characters devised for this story are real…real in the sense that their teenage personalities were captured brilliantly. You feel like you are in the average high school setting, with your besties on one side, and the bullies on the other. However, I loved how the bullies were drawn into the adventure, complete with bickering and all.

 Pick me up.

Without giving too much away in the story, and that’s always the difficult part for me, the sci-fi adventure is original. The plot is composed in a way that you don’t discover how two worlds are linked until the very end. This, keeps my interest up for the sequel to discover more. As the story progresses, Lucas discovers more about himself after the initial pick up of the object. Special powers, unworldly beings, and an unknown war pulls the sci-fi together to become a quest.

 Pick me up.

It’s a fun read, you won’t be disappointed.

My Over All Rating:
